Admire the view from the Colline du Château in Nice, not far from your hotel

Archaeological remains
Just a few steps separate your Mercure Hotel from the Colline du Château in Nice. This sublime place is famous for its unobstructed view over the city and the Mediterranean Sea. Historical and romantic, this 20-hectare park abounds in interesting features, which are well worth seeing.
The waterfall on the Colline
The citadel which once overlooked the bay was destroyed in the 16th century. However, during your walk you’ll notice that some ruins can still be seen. An early Christian church, remnants of fortifications, a medieval cemetery, an Episcopal palace and more are all clues to the different uses made of the Colline during its history.
The waterfall provides a much-appreciated cool note to the summer days. Totally artificial, it was built in 1885 to enhance the leafy park’s appeal. Its water comes from the Vésubie river.
