Palais Lascaris
The town was once the capital of the County of Nice, and was founded in the 4th century BC. The historical centre stretches from the foot of the Colline du Château and is home to sumptuous buildings. Our team recommends a few choice visits.
A tribute to Saint Réparate
Only a few paces from the Hôtel du Vieux Nice, the Palais Lascaris is a gem of the French Riviera. This 17th century building belonged to the Lascaris-Vintimille family, one of the oldest of the County’s nobility. Transformed into a museum, the palace now exhibits Aubusson tapestries, musical instruments, and more.
A short tour of the Place Garibaldi
The Sainte-Réparate cathedral, dating to the 17th century is built in the baroque style. A listed historical monument, it was designed in the shape of the Latin cross. Sights to see include the three organs and the belfry, added after the cathedral was consecrated in 1699.
The biggest and most renowned square in Nice celebrates Giuseppe Garibaldi, the Risorgimento hero. It was once known as the Place Napoléon. Surrounded by arcaded buildings, a statue of Garibaldi by Étex stands at its centre.
