In the middle of Avenida Paulista, Sao Paulo’s famous avenue, stands a statue that the tour guides never mention. And with reason: the piece, representing a silhouette attempting to escape a concrete block, was cut in two when a grill was installed to separate a bank from the neighbouring building.
