An homage to lovers of classical music, the Philharmonie de Paris building is considered a Jean Nouvel masterpiece. What few people know is that his team actually worked in collaboration with the agency of Brigitte Métra, Nouvel’s former architectural collaborator. Although her name doesn’t appear anywhere, it was in fact Métra who thought of, designed and modelled the structure’s futuristic design and state-of-the-art acoustics. She also oversaw, at least in part, the construction of the Great Hall. You'd be forgiven for thinking that the building came straight from the mind of Stanley Kubrick. If your wanderings bring you to this vast 52m-high spaceship of a building, just remember that behind every great man is a great woman!
