It was not the few feet separating Corte Galluzzi from Via Carbonesi that determined the sad ending to the love between a young couple of Bolognaise nobles, but a much longer distance made of continuous grudge between their families.
Living just a few steps away from each other, it was impossible for Virginia Galluzzi and Alberto Carbonesi not to meet, and despite the fighting between the two most powerful families in Medieval Bologna, they married in absolute secret in 1258.
When the bride’s father found out, him and the Galluzzi supporters killed Alberto and his family. The daughter, drenched in her pain, took her life by hanging herself from the window of the Carbonesi palace, showing her father that, once again and for the last time, she chose her true love.
