Milan is the city of publishing: books, newspapers, prints… it was here that “Il Caffè” (“the coffee”) by Pietro Verri, the first Enlightenment periodical was born, founded in 1764 by the Accademia dei Pugni group based in that which later became the famous Via Monte Napoleone. A perfect combination of trade, chatting, music, literature, and ideas. Editors and newspaper directors were and are looked up to like stars, and books became an object of exchange and a gift, even just when invited to a dinner, and even better if they are brand new or limited editions. There is a place where books and scripts are enjoyed over coffee, happy hour, or brunch, inside the special restored 1500s kiosk belonging to the Piccolo Teatro theater.
