HISTORICAL LIBRARY
Manchester
Long Millgate, Manchester
Do you like to read in peace and quiet? Then head over to Chetham’s Library, in the north of the city. Tucked inside a 15th century Baronial Hall, the library is known for being a productive place to work. The proof is that Karl Marx supposedly wrote some of his major economic theories here. Because not only is Chetham’s Library one of the most peaceful, it is United Kingdom’s oldest free public reference library. A library with history on its shelves and in its walls.
