Piazza Università - Via Roccaforte

Four characters populate the University square. There they stand, still and proud, remembering their legendary past while they hold the lampposts shining on the stupendous baroque jewel. Gammazita, a beautiful young lady, who jumped inside a well rather than dishonoring her engagement and accept the advances of a young French soldier. The statue of Uzeta commemorates the feats of the young paladin who slayed the Ursini giants, that the castle he set free was named after. The third statue, Cola Pesce, is a young man who had fish-like diving ability, and sacrificed himself taking the place of one of the columns holding the island of Sicily when it was collapsing. Finally, Anapia and Anfinomo, two brothers, are remembered for carrying their parents on their back to escape the eruption of Mount Etna; when the lava flow reached them, it decided to spare them for their gesture of selflessness.
