Anfiteatro Porto Rotondo - Via Porto Rotondo 39

Inaugurated in the mid-1990s, the structure rising next to Piazza San Marco, in the heart of Porto Rotondo, is a perfect example of classical amphitheater.
It’s curious to know that it was designed by two architects based on the idea of a sculptor, Mario Ceroli. The influence of classical art on its creator is certainly widely present in the structure. First of all, the material used to make it is the raw granite of the Gallura area, and is embellished with decorations typical of Ceroli’s works. Furthermore, the construction is adorned with timpani, arches, and obelisks also made of polished granite that contrast with the raw bricks.
This makes the amphitheater of Porto Rotondo a true classical structure of the 20th century.
