This is not an endless walk for condemned evil people, but a place where women had a chance to alleviate their sorrow. Above the city walls and facing the sea, this itinerary is extant since the XVII century and is dedicated to the captives. The Latin term means prisoners and defines the widows, meaning women caught within pain and grief. Across from the access stairwell in piazza Santo Spirito the widows meet to go for walks without having to go to Foro Italico, the traditional meeting place and promenade destination.
