Chiosco Ribaudo - Piazza Verdi

A combination of elements in wall form, marble and wrought iron complemented by s pleasant chrome juxtaposition: this is the Ribaud kiosk found in front of the Massimo Theatre, the liberty-style building it was intended for. It was built at the end of 1800 by Ernesto Basile as the theatre's ticket office and drinks stand for the spectators and citizens. The kiosk which today is a tobacconist’s has all the appeal of faraway places. The octagonal-shape upper cupola is a kind of souvenir of travels to Brazil: this element which reverts to the Brazilian style is reminiscent of the towers of the Brazilian country the artist had recently visited.
