Abbazia di San Giovanni Evangelista - Piazzale San Giovanni 1

The church of St. John the Evangelist, a Benedictine monk abbey, encloses a story of an ancient miracle. Around the year 1000, the first abbot in the history of the convent of St. John the Evagelist was offered a fiasco (the typically Italian bottle in a wicker basket) of wine. After blessing it, John shared it with the other monks gathered in the cafeteria for dinner. The bottle went from hand to hand and filled the glasses of the tablemates, but the wine never ended. Still today, the fiasco and the glasses of Giovanni and his tablemates are full: just check the painting over the altar dedicated to the saint.
