Traditional Burano lace, one of the most precious and famous laces in the world, has a mythical origin.
The legend sees Nicolò as its protagonist, a very handsome fisherman on the island, who was so in love with his girlfriend that he resisted the temptation of a group of sirens encountered at sea.
The fantastical creatures gave him some lace made of sea foam, which Nicolò gave to his loved one on their wedding day.
