The most interesting boat Made in Viareggio is certainly the Barcobestia, a sailing ship manufactured until the 1950s.
Its name is a malapropism of the English term the best barque, used to indicate the schooner. The axe carpentry masters of Viareggio had called their latest creation the barcabest, which soon became known by all as the barcobestia.
