San Sebastian

Complejo Ametzagaña, Uba Bidea, 61, 20014 Donostia, Gipuzkoa

Ametzagaina Park sprawls over the hills between Otxoki Park on one side and the district of Loiola on the other. It’s a magnificent place to spend the day, with extensive cycle paths, picnic tables, a children’s playground and a viewpoint offering stunning vistas over San Sebastián and the surrounding area. On the highest point of the hill, you will find the ruins of an ancient military fort dating from the Third Carlist War (1872-1876), the only remaining fort of two that were originally built there. Arranged over two levels, the partly restored fort is surrounded by a deep ditch equipped with several covered passages or caponiers. Visit with your family and re-enact the battles of ages past.
