Discover Farnham’s centuries-old hops tradition with a tour of Hogs Back Brewery. Set in farm buildings that date to the 18th century, the family-owned business has been crafting locally sourced ales and lagers since 1992. Where do the ingredients come from? Some are from their hop garden just across the road. It’s the area’s first new hop growing spot in over a century, reviving a long local tradition. The Hogs Back brewers say that hop farming came to the region in the 17th century. It peaked in the late 1800s, when around 40% of the parish’s agricultural land was devoted to the plant.
