Why travel to London to see sophisticated, ambitious drama productions when you can catch them right here at the Lace Market Theatre? This local institution grew out of two amateur dramatic societies founded in the 1920s, which united in 1946 to become the Nottingham Theatre Club. In 1972, the club moved to a dilapidated paint store in the Lace Market, once at the centre of Nottingham’s Victorian industry. Before becoming a store, it was a school and William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army, was a pupil.
