Ramiz Meral came to Frankfurt 30 years ago, bringing with him his döner kebab boat moored at Schaumainkai. In the early evening, hungry guests mill about in front of the floating stand – the later it is, the longer the queue. Ramiz welcomes everyone with a friendly "Merhaba" (hello). The pitta bread filled with meat or fish is handed out through a small window. The idea came to the takeaway owner in his birthplace, Istanbul, where fishing boats on the Bosporus have been selling grilled fish in bread for centuries. It is particularly charming in the summer, when the Frankfurt population picnic alongside the boat. A must-try is the Uskumru mackerel döner kebab and delicious homemade lemonade!
