Accademia Carrara - Piazza Giacomo Carrara 82

To promote the study of fine arts and as a Christian act,: this was Giacomo Carrara’s wish, the noble to whom the Bergamo Academy was dedicated to. As well as his own collection of paintings, Carrara was involved in the construction of the building in a neoclassic style and in its maintenance. Other patrons, amongst whom the counts Marenzi and Lochis, donated their own collections to the Academy which has therefore become the only Italian museum made of private collections, as well as the residence of a painting school. Among the artwork of the seventeenth century, eighteenth century and nineteenth century, the museum hosts pictures and paintings, bronze works, medals, sculptures and porcelain artefacts.
