Basilica di San Simplicio - Via Salvatore Fera
The Basilica of San Simplicio, the most ancient religious building in Northern Sardinia, is built upon a hill, outside what were once the walls of the medieval town.
In the area there was a Paleochristian place of worship, which later became a church during the Roman Ages, and finally a Pisan Romanesque-style construction at the end of the 11th century.
Legend tells that underneath the church there is a culvert that connects it with the area of Cabu Abbas: water flowed from different springs through the tunnels and channeled from the countryside to the city’s thermal baths.
