Via Canonici (“canon street”) is a toponym that has survived the centuries, despite Stezzano and its citizens have changed indeed.
The name refers not so much to the residents of the houses along the street, but their owners.
Much like the streets that brought together professionals of the same or complementary categories, this road was named after the priests of the Bergamo Cathedral, who owned most of the buildings in the area.
