To enjoy some truly unbridled undersea exploration, you’ll need to shapeshift into a selkie of Scottish legend. Or, maybe just visit the Aberdeen Maritime Museum. There, you’ll find an interactive exhibit that recreates the experience of piloting a remote-operated submersible. Take a glide through the ocean depths on a mission to avert an oil leak. The museum also pays homage to Aberdeen’s drilling history with a three-storey scale model of an offshore platform. Check out displays about the town’s ancient shipbuilding industry, housed in a building that dates back to 1593. For a look at the real thing, head up to the museum's top-floor windows for soaring views over the harbour, which has been operational for nearly 900 years.
