HANGING OUT WITH DOWNTOWN DOLPHINS

Aberdeen

16 Regent Quay

Sure, Aberdeen residents have a few complaints that are common to many urbanites - the ever-rising cost of gourmet cappuccino, nosey neighbors, all those pesky dolphins. Come again? Yes, it’s true. Near the centre of town, you can find the aquatic mammals gleefully leaping from the water on any given day. Head down to Aberdeen Harbour to glimpse pods of bottlenose dolphins frolicking in the bow waves of ships leaving port. Torry Battery is a great vantage point, offering views of a 19th-century lighthouse as well. If you’ve got the time, hop on a tour boat for a cruise around the harbour. There’s a good chance you’ll come across basking sharks, seals and even a minke whale or two.
