The Gallileo building was once the pride of the Dresdner Bank. Today the skyscraper is owned by the Commerzbank, which has turned it into an exciting cultural centre. Deep down in the basement, next to the unique “James the Bar”, are the headquarters of the English Theatre Frankfurt. Its repertoire includes poetry slams and comedies, as well as English drama classics. The theatre may have the youngest audience in Frankfurt, it is nevertheless one of the city’s endangered cultural institutions. Hopefully it will survive any future banking crises… So after you’ve seen all there is to see in the tower, make sure you head down to the theatre before enjoying a drink at James the Bar.
