Frankfurt’s established cultural milieu has got some new company: a hip new underground scene has emerged in the former working class area of Hafenpark. When the weather is warm, there’s an almost Mediterranean vibe here. At the heart of this fringe scene is the cultural collective “Familie Montez”, the headquarters of which are in the heritage-listed archways of the Honsell Bridge. The group’s founder is the bushy-bearded party organiser Mirek Macke. He has managed to attract hot international stars like photographer Annie Leibowitz, whose pictures have been exhibited in the huge post-industrial space.
