Fontana di Piazza Lazzarini - Piazza Lazzarini

From the Latin word trivium, the Trebbio was the intersection of three roads, today’s Piazza Lazzarini.
A fountain was placed at the center of the trivium in 1621, delivered directly from the duke’s palace of the nearby Urbania on the occasion of Claudia de’ Medici’s wedding with Federico Ubaldo Della Rovere.
This was the first transfer of the fountain, which showed to be itinerant on more than one occasion: it was relocated between Corso XI Settembre and Via Cavour; then, when the Peschiera (fish farm) was built in 1822, the fountain moved in front of the Rossini theater; successively, it migrated towards Palazzo Lazzarini.
Finally, in 1991 it returned to the front of the Rossini theater, but don’t be too sure you’ll find it there on your next visit…
